Spring Term

English - Macavity

Whilst our Curlers were away today, the rest of Willow Class created and performed a brilliant version of “Macavity“ our English topic for this half term. A great way to end the half term for all of our wonderful Willows.

Computing - Programming

Mrs Taylor, the Computing lead for the federation, spent the day with Y5 & 6 this week, showing them how to create their own variation games using their programming skills.

We had a FANTASTIC time at Barton Grange today taking part in our first curling lesson. This week, we were mastering keeping our balance whist gliding and thought about how we could use our power, strength and stamina to get the curling stone to stop where we wanted.

Science - Electricity

We worked very scientifically today and used our problem solving, critical thinking and resilience to power a circuit.

Science- Thermal insulation

Our science topic for this half term is insulation. The children got hands on with our latest experiment all about which materials are the best thermal insulators. Thank you to Lappet Mill for their generous donation that will fund this experiment and many more to come!

Science- British Science Week

Willow class have thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon of experiments for British Science Week. The children have looked into what makes a boat float? Does toast always fall butter side down? What is the optimum design for an aeroplane? And how can you tell the age of a Shark? We started the afternoon by learning about inspirational people in the world of STEM. 😁

Art- Still life

We made use of our wonderful surroundings today as we continued our Still life drawing project in the forest. The children created beautiful artwork based on the nature around us.

History- Anglo-Saxons

Willow class loved our Anglo-Saxon scavenger hunt drawing activity. The children were given just 15 Seconds to find and remember an artefact. They then had to return to the class and draw it from memory. A tricky task with some very impressive results!

Music- Recorders

We are SO grateful to the Kendal Recorder Ensemble for joining us - they have certainly given us something to aspire too, their music was so beautiful. It was a privilege to be able to play for them

DT- Sculptures

Willow class have had a brilliant afternoon with Chickenwired. Thank you William for joining us to share your talent. William was even generous enough to give Willow class our new penguin mascot! The children have all created their very own sculptures, the results are fantastic.😃
