Geography
In Geography at Calder Vale we aim to inspire pupil’s curiosity and fascination about the world around them. We provide opportunities for the children to build their knowledge about the UK, the world around us and its people. We encourage our pupils to become global citizens, exploring their place in the world, their values and their responsibilities to people, the environment and the sustainability of the planet. As children progress through school, they will revisit each of the geographic stands, allowing them to build progressively on prior knowledge and deepen their understanding of the world around them and develop their geographical vocabulary. Throughout their geographical journey at Calder Vale, children will engage in a range of experiences, visits and field work to enhance their learning as well as reading a variety of maps, non-fiction texts across the curriculum and linked fiction texts.
