History- Maya Civilisation
We had a wonderful time with our friends from Scorton for a history workshop all about the Maya . The children were transported to Maya life through Virtual reality. In the afternoon we made traditional weaving baskets and got hands on with Real historical artefacts.
PE- Gymnastics
We had a wonderful time at Garstang School of Gymnastics for our first PE unit of the academic year. The children LOVED using the equipment and learning new balances, rolls and travels. Thank you to Laura from GSOG for teaching us all about the sport.
Geography trip to Abbystead
Willow Class had a fun filled day at Abbystead Village. We were lucky enough to have interactive lessons from a number of Local nature experts who shared their passions with us. The children learnt all about River ecosystems and preservation, Animal and plant camouflage, food chains, how animals choose and adapt to their habitats, and the work done to protect the wildlife on the Abbystead estate. A great day had by all!
ART- Chas Jacobs
Another fantastic opportunity for our children this morning as we had the privilege of meeting and learning from local artist Chas Jacobs. Chas told us all about the work he does, painted live for us, and helped every child produce a breathtaking painting in his signature style.
Science- Owls
We had a wonderful experience for our children as we were visited by Lancashire Owl and bird sanctuary who taught us all about the work they do to protect these wonderful creatures. The team were even kind enough to give every child the opportunity to hold an owl, which the children were very excited to do!
Science- Soil and plants
We had another fun science investigation as we were joined by our Chair of Governors Diana who taught the children all about soil and its characteristics that help plants grow.
